Mary asks…
best hiking and fly fishing in GEORGIA?
I want to visit some really spectacular places in Georgia. I want to take a really beautiful and scenic hike, maybe in the appalachias, which trail or park should i go to for the best experience? AND to see the really beautiful rivers like in the movies, which rivers should i visit for fly fishing? Like where did they film the fishing scenes in Legends of the Fall?
Also anyone know where some really gorgeous forests are? Like maybe dogwood forests or just really cool scenery?
I’m willing to drive anywhere in the whole state, just want the prettiest scenery!
also–any scenic area where i can see peach trees?
Joy answers:
I would recommend Vogel State Park, Amicalola State Park, Cloudland Canyon, Tallulah Gorge or Unicoi for hiking. The AT begins at Springer Mountain GA in Fannin County. The tallest peak in GA is Brasstown Bald in the Chatahoochee-Oconee National Forest.
Tallulah and Amicalola both have beautiful water features. You need to visit the upper Chatahoochee River, Chatooga River or the Tocoa River for fly fishing at it’s best.
All of these areas are in the North Georgia Mountains.
Peaches are grown primarily in middle Georgia around Fort Valley and Byron.
