Your Questions About Old Fishing Lures Pictures

John asks…

Vintage wooden fishing lure ID?

Can anyone identify this large old wood fish lure? It is appx. 7″ long . The tail intentionaly has only one prop blade made of galvanized tin causing tail section to rotate upon retreive. Hook eye appears to have been cut off at the front.

Joy answers:

It appears to be a “Musky Mud Puppy”, built by the Consance Charles Roberts Bait Co. In Monsinee, Wisc. Circa. 1928. I’m looking at it in the “Fishing Lures Collectibles Book” second edition, page 242. Other than the paint job your lure is identical to the one shown, including the length of 7″
