Freshwater fishing tips for a beginner?
I am a beginner. I use a spincasting reel, but keep hearing I should upgrade ASAP to bigger and better things. What kind should I get? The baitcaster looks good, but I am not sure. I have no interest in fly fishing. I want to catch bigger than bluegill. Also any tips on baits and lures would be greatly appreciated! How do you determine what size hook you use? OK, I have a million questions, so Im going to stop here. Thanks alot!

Since everyone that’s answered has pretty much given you advice, it’s my turn to give you tips. These are not only for beginners like yourself, but veterans of the game also…
1 ) Follow all state fishing rules and regulations.
2 ) Don’t litter. Pick up all your trash (line, bait containers, food wrappers, cigarette butts, hook packages, etc.) and put them in the necessary garbage bins.
3 ) Remember to practice Catch-&-Release with trophy-sized fish.
