I’m not quite sure if you’re asking which flies to use or whether you want to have a go at tying them for yourself. If you are not experienced at fly fishing my suggestion is that you buy them to start off with. You can pick them up on eBay pretty cheaply.
As to what patterns to use, right now things like mayflies are deadly. We are in the middle of what is called “duffers fortnight” when a combination of fish feeding up after spawning and a high rate of spring insect hatching mean that even average fly fishers like myself can bag up.
BUT please note that although you can fly fish for trout at the moment (provided you have a licence and permit) you must not target coarse species such as roach, perch, dace or chub until the beginning of the fishing season on 16 June.
