Anyone suggexst any good carp rigs for fishing a heavily fished but well stockedc day ticket water?

Just a point of interest. A couple of weeks back after catching nothing all day my five year old son wanted to put bubble gum on his hook . Well it worked like crazy. Half a dozen decent carp in 20 minutes. The same gum stayed on the hook and sure enough next time we fished it worked again.
