split cane Fly Fishing Rods

About Oneida Gunnison Fly Fishing bar?
Gunnison flight I took a fishing rod that was in an aluminum cart. Rod marked Gunnison # 4 and also marked the Tonkin cane. The aluminum cart that has a label that says … Select the quality of Gunnison split bamboo. Fishing Fly rod 4. Length of 9 meters and a weight of 5 ounces of Oneida Tackle. Made in the USA. So it seems .. For the fisherman demanding. I wonder if anyone can tell the age of this bar is, and no value. Any information is appreciated. Thank you Norma
Years ago, the bamboo poles were sold by the stem length and weight of the bar. This is in contrast with last year + 40 where the bars are marketed by the stem length and thickness line. I suspect that you have an old bar. For 30, 40 and 50 (above), there was a lot of bamboo bars of low-grade market. Some are sold through department stores, chain stores and hardware stores. Oneida Gunnison do not recognize the BOM, and I suspect it was a brand new bar of a Manufacturer of mass. You can determine that decade, the bar was produced by the study of their mode of construction and types of equipment used (guides, rolls, etc.). It's too dive here, but there are resources available online through some of the fishing tips message. Bars value are easily recognized by their names. Thomas, Colin Powell, Garrison, Winston, T & T, Orvis, etc., all products of high quality cane stalks. I do not think yours is one of them. But this does not mean that fishing is not very well or become a jewel in his quiver rod. This is just that there are many cane producing not take more than 50 dollars on the market.
