Fly Fishing: Fly what size engine do you use for fishing flats?

I am a veteran of the freshwater trout fly fisherman and an avid saltwater fisherman, but I have yet to make the jump to fly fishing in salt water. I will visit Belize, which has imposed great story told of mangroves and fisheries. I have to buy a fishing rod and reel for the job. I have to roughly only need a flexible configuration that can handle permitting, bony fishes, small tarpon and snook way. what is a good weight recommended / Size / class?

Although each company has slightly different "reading" in the weight class, I would follow one of two pieces of 9 feet, 9 WT. (Or a 10ft 9WT, if you can find!) In my opinion, a 8wt (with fast tip action) is perfect for the bones. But half to allow medium and large snook, tarpon and the baby needs more than category 9 weight rod. If you have targeted companies strictly tarpon and snook in the mangroves, I suggest you weight 10 (which could quickly get out of the mangrove, otherwise eventually lose all other fish and can be expensive and "frustrating.") The 'optimal' would be if you could take (or pay), two teams …..? In this case, would be a super-fun 8wt for bones and 10Wt would be perfect for the Tarpon / Snook. If your portfolio could topple ……………….. Viola! Redington makes a decent (and cheap enough) 10Wt ….? You must register with her. In fact, Redington, (manufactured society by Sage) is a good buy for all ….. If you are looking for a bargain. Hope this helps and? PS-You also need a good reel. Unlike fly fishing fresh water can not "make do" with a "clicker" reel, (lol). Any aluminum spool with a hard barstock be strong ….
