Help with tying flies to leader in fly fishing?
I’m not too good a tying flies to leader on my line and I was wondering what a good amount of leader to lose in process.

use a double surgeons to add tippet or lengthen your tapered leaders, I find it much easier than a bloodknot. use a clinch knot to tie the flys on to either leader or tippet. I can tie a clinch knot with about 1 inch or less of length of the leader lost, but this is less important to me than getting a good knot tied. if you learn to add tippet then how much is lost tying on flys becomes unimportant.
